from the Wild Birds Unlimited Nature Shop near Gardiner (mile post 276 on Highway 101). The mission of Wild Birds Unlimited is, “We Bring People and Nature Together, and We Do It with Excellence.” Their vision is to “Bring Joy into our Customers’ Lives” by sharing their passion for birds and knowledge about the hobby of backyard bird feeding. Christie will be talking about certifying your backyard as a Wildlife Habitat. This is a program from the National Wildlife Federation that Wild Birds Unlimited has championed to help protect birds and other wildlife. It basically demonstrates that almost anyone can create a welcoming haven for local wildlife. In fact, wildlife habitat gardens support twice as as conventional lawns and non-native plant gardens. Turning a yard, balcony container, garden, or work landscape into a Certified Wildlife Habitat to attract birds, butterflies, and other neighborhood wildlife is fun, easy, and can make a lasting difference. Christie will sprinkle some winter-feeding tips into the program too.
