Program:   

 Rick DeWitt, a certified lighthouse fanatic, will talk about the history of Washington State lighthouses, with particular emphasis on the local New Dungeness Lightstation. Rick is a board member of the New Dungeness Lightstation Association which manages the lighthouse and keeper’s quarters at the end of the five-mile long Dungeness spit. This light is one of the few in the world that has ever been shortened, and is also rare in that the shoreline is moving further away from the station. There will be tales of a bloody massacre, beach wildfires that threatened the lighthouse, and how you too, can become a part of preserving this historic and beautiful place.
