NOVEMBER 2024
Here we are, at the end of an emotional and rancorous political season, mostly intact, looking to the future. It’s a time to value friendships, reach out to neighbors, both new and old, and strengthen our ties to community.
I’m writing this at dawn, the promise of a pink sunrise flooding through the window. The Newcomers’ Club has been very good to Frank and me over the years. It was a way to meet people and make friends when we were new to the community. The Club became our most important friendship circle in the following years, even through the Pandemic, when we could rarely meet in person, to the recovery of the present. This year I am looking for new ways to reach and welcome new members to the community, as we were welcomed, and to support our members. I have some ideas I’ll be sharing with you in the coming months.
December 3rd is our annual Holiday Party at the 7 Cedars Hotel. The dinner menu entrees are Flank Steak and Herb-Crusted Salmon with multiple festive side dishes and desserts. Following dinner, we will enjoy a performance by the Grand Olympic Chorus. They sang for us last year, and were widely praised by all. The cost per person is $60, everything included. The hotel will even offer discounted rooms for those who don’t want to drive back that evening. This is also a great opportunity to invite guests to share in the evening. Is there someone in your neighborhood who is feeling a little lonely at the beginning of the holiday season? Check the website under Annual Newcomers’ Holiday Party for the full menu and details. I hope to see you there.
