Two Groups To Walk With

The Port Angeles Walkers meet Tuesday and Thursday at 10:00 am starting on Thursday August 7, 2025.. The walk will begin at the Olympic Discovery Trail parking lot at Strait View Drive and 101 next to Morse Creek. The walk is an easy one, beginning on a 400-foot trestle bridge over Morse Creek and continuing down to the Juan de Fuca Strait.  Walks may be cancelled when in conflict with other Newcomers’ events.

The trail is paved the whole distance of our 2 to 2 ½ mile walk and is level. Much of the walk is in the woods, which provides shade and protection on sunny days. Walkers can stop and turn around as soon as they reach the Strait (a 2-mile round trip), or they can continue an additional ¼ mile to an even better viewpoint of Port Angeles, Ediz Hook, and Canada (a 2 1/2-mile journey). It should be noted that there are no benches nor restrooms along this section of the trail, though there are ecoblocks that walkers can sit on in the last quarter mile along the Juan de Fuca Strait. On a clear day magnificent Mt Baker is in view.

If you are driving from Port Angeles, you’ll need to make a left turn from 101 on to Strait View Drive when arriving. Be cautious when doing so. The parking lot is on the east (right) side of Strait View. When returning, take great care if you are returning to Sequim, as this left turn is extremely difficult in heavy traffic. In fact, Newcomers’ recommends that you turn right onto 101 instead, and drive to the Walmart traffic light at Kolonels Way where you can make a legal U-turn.  Contact Email

The SEQUIM Walkers meet Monday and Wednesday at 10:00 at the Runnion Road Discovery Trail parking lot.  We walk to Priest Road and back, about 2 1/2 miles.   Contact Email
