August 2026 Dining Around
The August 2026 Dining Around event will be on Thursday, August 27, 2026, 4 pm, at The AJAX Cafe, 21 North Water St, Port Hadlock-Irondale with hosts, Denise and Glen Thomson.
The maximum number of reservations is 25. The last day to reserve is Sunday August 23, 2026. Reserve early. The Dining Around event is popular. If reservations are closed, and you would like to be put on a waiting list, Send an Email to the Dining Around Chair.
Parking is available in the restaurant’s parking lot.
The AJAX Café
Once again, we are traveling out of town for the August 2026 Dining Around event. It should be another enjoyable summer outing near the water at a restaurant that’s new to our Dining Around gatherings.
Our hosts, Denise and Glen Thomson, have arranged for us to dine at the Ajax Cafe in Port Hadlock-Irondale. The Ajax Cafe is near Finnriver Farm & Cidery where we had our Dining Around event in July.
“A little out of the way, but way out of the ordinary,” the Ajax Cafe is a Northwest cuisine restaurant located just a few miles south of Port Townsend in Lower Hadlock. They offer a comfortable dining experience with craft cocktails and a variety of beers and wines. Enjoy the unique atmosphere that is Ajax, known for its historic waterfront setting in the Galster House, quirky decor (like hats diners are encouraged to wear that are displayed on the walls), and a menu featuring locally sourced ingredients.
The original structure, an 1890 saltbox, was built by Samuel Hadlock, the town’s founder and Port Hadlock namesake, as his personal residence. It is the only surviving building constructed by the original Washington Mill Company, and the only property associated with Samuel Hadlock. In 1906, ownership changed hands as Lena and William Galster converted the first floor into a saloon and lived on the second floor. In 1977, the property became the Ajax Cafe.

Dining Around is all about friendship!
The Dining Around Host makes a reservation at a local restaurant where the members meet for a casual meal and socializing. Everyone orders off the menu and pays their share. The gathering is a great opportunity to enjoy old friends and make new ones.
